Alex Scott will feature in FIFA 22 as a Goal Commentator confirms EA

Football broadcasting duo Alex Scott and Stewart Robson will both feature in FIFA 22, EA has confirmed today, with both set to feature within FIFA 22’s new look in-game broadcast team.

Former Arsenal, West Ham and Coventry player Robson will replace Lee Dixon as the game’s UK default co-commentator for FIFA 22 alongside lead commentator Derek Rae, who replaced Martin Tyler and Alan Smith in FIFA 21.

Former Arsenal and England international Scott will also feature in FIFA 22 in a Goal Commentator role, replacing former Goal Commentator Alan McInally, with the current BBC Sport and Sky Sports pundit becoming the first British female voice ever to feature in an EA Sports FIFA video game.

Former Arsenal player Scott has been a regular pundit BBC Sport and CBS Sports, as well as recently being announced as the new host of Football Focus, replacing Dan Walker on the show.

“This is a big moment for FIFA, for football and women and girls across the world,” said Alex Scott.

“Representation is crucial and the inclusion of an English-speaking female commentator on FIFA is game-changing. The impact it will have is simply stratospheric.

“It’s a big moment for me personally and professionally. It’s an honour to be part of the FIFA gaming institution, alongside some of my brilliant presenting colleagues.

“Whilst I am the first English-speaking female broadcaster to feature in FIFA, I will certainly not be the last. I know this is just the start of stronger female footballing representation from EA SPORTS and the football community as a whole.”

“Alex is an inspirational voice in the world of football, as she continues to evolve her talent from the pitch to the studio,” said David Jackson, VP Brand EA SPORTS FIFA.

“Authenticity and immersion are at the core of what makes FIFA special, so we’re thrilled to include Alex’s experience and insight in FIFA 22, as part of our English Language commentary team.”

Spanish presenter Nira Juanco became the very first female commentator in FIFA history in FIFA 21, with fans able to hear her voice in the Spanish commentary option, but UK players had to download this separately within the settings menu.

In FIFA 21, there was no option to select an alternative commentary duo for your in-game audio.

If you went into the settings in FIFA 21, fans only had the option to change the language and not commentary teams, which means only one commentary team is available per language. EA has not confirmed yet whether this will be the case in FIFA 22.

UK players will hear the familiar voice of Derek Rae who has been a feature of the in-game commentary team for the previous two FIFA titles, and Robson who is a Scottish commentator who currently commentates for ESPN US and BT Sport.

FIFA 22 will be released in the UK and worldwide on Friday, October 1, 2021, EA has confirmed. There are two versions of FIFA 22 that are available to pre-order now, the Standard Edition and the Ultimate Edition.

The Standard Edition of FIFA 22 will follow the worldwide release date, but the Ultimate Edition offers four days early access, which means players will be able to play the game from Monday, September 27, 2021.

Players who pre-order the Ultimate Edition of FIFA 22 will also receive a FUT Heroes Player item (Limited Time Offer) a Ones to Watch Player item, Dual Entitlement, 4600 FIFA Points, Team of the Week 1 Player item, Kylian Mbappé Loan item, FUT Ambassador Loan Player Pick and a Career Mode Homegrown Talent.
